OVERVIEW

The coast trail should produce many endemics, including Green Imperial Pigeons, White-bellied Imperial Pigeons, Grey-cheeked Green Pigeons, and Small and Large Sulawesi Hanging Parrots almost side by side. Tangkoko Nature Reserve is located in Bitung City, 65 km from Manado.

Tangkoko is a 9,000-hectare nature reserve that has attracted naturalists, researchers, scientists, and nature lovers from around the world. In the forest, we will see our first Sulawesi Babblers, plain birds with pleasant songs. Spectacular Fiery-billed Malkohas may be seen in the trees, and Black-fronted White-eyes are low in the scrub. Ornate Lorikeets and Grosbeak Starlings may be flying overhead, along with Blue-backed Parrots. We may spot the Sulawesi Black Pigeon. Sulawesi Triller and many Sulawesi Cicadabirds should be seen here. The Green-backed Kingfisher or the Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher, both endemic, would provide a great sighting for the tour. On our walk back, we may spot the impressive Ashy Woodpecker and the superb Black-naped Fruit-Dove. Once we emerge from the forest, Ivory-backed Woodswallow may be seen flying overhead, or we may spot the gorgeous Yellow-sided Flowerpecker. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars and camera; this is one trip you would want to capture on film.

Day 01: MANADO TANGKOKO (D)

Arrive in Manado, meet your guide, then transfer to Tangkoko for check-in at Tangkoko Lodge. Meeting service and dinner. (D)

Day 02 – Day 03: TANGKOKO BIRDING DAYS (BLD)

Two full days to explore birding in the Tangkoko Nature Reserve, accompanied by a bird-watching guide with sharp eyes for spotting birds and a talent for birding.

Day 04: MANADO - AIRPORT (B)

After breakfast, transfer directly to the airport for your next destination. (B)

What's Included

All transportation, accommodation (based on twin/triple sharing), 3 meals per day (BLD), special birding guide fee (English-speaking), local guide/ranger at the national park, permit and conservation fees for the park, and charter boat at Tangkoko.
