Mansinam Island is a small island located near Manokwari in West Papua, Indonesia. The island is historically and culturally significant because it is known as the place where Christianity was first introduced to Papua by German missionaries Carl Wilhelm Ottow and Johann Gottlob Geissler on February 5, 1855. Because of this important event, Mansinam Island is often called the “Island of Civilization” by the local community.

The island is surrounded by beautiful coastal scenery, clear blue waters, and a peaceful natural environment that attracts visitors seeking both spiritual and cultural experiences. One of the island’s most famous landmarks is the large Jesus Christ statue that overlooks the sea, becoming a symbol of faith and an iconic attraction for tourists and pilgrims.

In addition to its religious significance, Mansinam Island also offers opportunities for nature tourism, including beach activities, boating, and enjoying the tropical atmosphere. Every year, many visitors come to the island to commemorate the arrival of Christianity in Papua through religious and cultural celebrations.

Mansinam Island represents a combination of history, spirituality, and natural beauty, making it one of the most meaningful cultural destinations in Papua.
