Lembeh Strait is one of Indonesia’s most famous underwater tourism destinations, located between Lembeh Island and the city of Bitung in North Sulawesi. The strait is widely known among divers around the world for its unique marine beauty, which is very different from most diving spots. While many dive destinations are famous for their colorful coral reefs, Lembeh Strait is renowned for its black volcanic sand seabed, which serves as a habitat for a wide variety of rare and exotic marine creatures.

Its waters are home to fascinating species such as mimic octopuses, pygmy seahorses, frogfish, and colorful nudibranchs. Because of this extraordinary biodiversity, Lembeh Strait is often referred to as the “world’s paradise for muck diving,” where divers can discover hidden and unusual sea creatures living beneath the dark sandy ocean floor. Many underwater photographers from around the world visit this destination to capture marine life that is difficult to find elsewhere.

In addition to its underwater attractions, the area surrounding Lembeh Strait still maintains its natural beauty, featuring calm waters and stunning tropical scenery. It is an ideal destination for diving, marine education, underwater photography, and nature adventures for ocean lovers and travel enthusiasts.
