Tourism activities in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area resumed on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. WIB, following the successful completion of wildfire and forest-fire management in the Mount Bromo area.

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority announced the reopening after monitoring and evaluating the area's condition following the fire. According to TNBTS Head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, the decision prioritized visitor and staff safety.

The reopening is stipulated in Official Announcement No. PG.19/T.8/TU/HMS.01.07/B/08/2026, issued on August 19, 2026. With the announcement, tourists can once again visit Mount Bromo through the designated entrances.

Bromo Entrance Tickets Are Available Again

Tourists can purchase Bromo entrance tickets starting August 19, 2026, through the official Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park booking system. The daily visitor quota remains unchanged at a maximum of 2,752 visitors per day.

Previously, all tourism entrances to the Bromo area were temporarily closed on August 8, 2026, due to increasing wildfire activity. The closure affected several main access points, including Cemoro Lawang in Probolinggo, Wonokitri in Pasuruan, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang, and Senduro in Lumajang.

Visitors Urged to Help Protect Bromo

Following the reopening, visitors must follow all regulations and instructions from park officers. Tourists must also keep the area clean and protect the natural environment throughout their visit.

Activities that could potentially cause another fire are strictly prohibited. Visitors must not make campfires or dispose of cigarette butts and other materials that could become ignition sources.

If tourists notice smoke, embers, or any signs of a new fire, they must immediately report them to park officers. Public cooperation is essential to preventing future wildfires in the Bromo area.

Bromo Fire Successfully Extinguished

According to the TNBTS authority, the successful handling of the wildfire was made possible through the coordinated efforts of a joint team involving various agencies and personnel. The fire in the Mount Bromo area was reportedly fully extinguished after 13 days of firefighting and recovery efforts, following the initial outbreak on August 3, 2026.

With tourism now reopened, Mount Bromo once again welcomes visitors to experience its iconic volcanic landscapes. Responsible tourism remains essential to keep the area safe, clean, and protected for future generations.
