Map Of Medan Nr Leuser Park Tour Package, click here.

North Sumatra is a large province stretching from the Indian Ocean in the West to the Straits of Malaka in the East and from Aceh in the North to West Sumatra in the South. And the capital of North Sumatra Province is Medan. It is thick with virgin forests, lush vegetation and jungle covered hills, terraced ricefields, cool mountain streams, strong rivers, beautiful waterfalls, peaceful white sandy beaches and large ancient lakes.
Travelindo suggests itinerary below to visit this region:

Day 1 : MEDAN - BOHOROK (L,D)
Arrive at Medan Airport. Drive to north-westward for about 3 hours to Bohorok, orang utan center. En route passing through several small towns followed by vast view of rubber and oil palm plantations with some countryside landscape. Stop to see palm oil plantation from outside. If it’s in season you can stop to see local “rambutan” and cacao garden, also stop to see local market in Kuala. Arrive in Bohorok, check-in at hotel. Afternoon trekking to the orang utan station to watch the orang utan feeding. Walk down about 25 minutes to the river then cross by dug-out canoe to the gate of orang utan station. Then hike up another 25 minutes to the feeding station. Watch the process of orang utan feeding at 03 pm. The orang utans are free animals and cannot be booked in advance. Sometimes in fruit season when there are many fruits in the jungle they might not come to the feeding center. After watching the feeding process walk back to your lodge through the same way.
( We include one time visit to orang utan feeding site. If the clients are unable to catch the 3 pm feeding time at this day, they can do it the next day at 7 am. Feeding time is twice daily at 7 am & 3 pm )

Day 2 : BOHOROK – LEUSER NATIONAL PARK TREKKING (B,L,D)
After breakfast, commence / start trekking and hiking in the tropical rain forest around the station, accompanied by local ranger, for wildlife viewing. If you are lucky you may encounter Orang Utan, leaf monkey, macaque, gibbons, siamang and abundant bird life. Afternoon, return to hotel for overnight.

Day 3 : BOHOROK – TANGKAHAN(B,L,D) Elephant trek can be done on day 4 too.
After breakfast depart for Tangkahan rainforest, part of Leuser National Park. The road is still partly dirt track road. Arrive in Tangkahan, check in the lodge. Start on one hour elephant trek followed by elephant washing in the river, return to the lodge. Simple dinner in the lodge. After dinner you may enjoy the peaceful surrounding of the jungle with lots of bird sound.

Day 4 : TANGKAHAN- TREKKING (B,L,D)
This morning you will start trekking through the lush rainforest of Tangkahan. There are 3 types of trek available depend on your physique and stamina.
The first alternative is a 2.2 km interpretation trail that will take two and a half hours. Incredible tropical plants including dome medicinal plants can be seen along the trail. If you were lucky you can find  orangutan, leaves monkey, long tailed macaque and great argus.
The second alternative is a challenging 2.6 km trail that will take two and a half hours trek. Steep slopes and many giant trees are along the trail. You might want to swim and catch fishes in Lubuk Larangan.
The third alternative is an adventurous 6.8 km trail that will take six hours trek. It serves for adventurers with healthy stamina.
