MEDAN-MINANGKABAU Overland Package (8D 7N)
Sumatera is the second largest island in Indonesia. North Sumatera is a large
province stretching from Indian ocean in the west to the straits of Malaka in
the east. This region has a remarkable scenery, with thick virgin forests, lush
vegetation, strong rivers, beautiful waterfalls, peaceful sandy beaches and large
ancient lakes. The diversity of arts, people, and culture literally make Sumatera
as a Garden of Eden for social scientists and culture seekers. Sumatera has indeed
reliable nature and cultural tourist objects. Medan, North Sumatera is one of the richest provinces in Indonesia for flora and fauna
with a wealth of birds, butterflies, buffalo and deer. North Sumatera is neighboring
of West Sumatera. West Sumatera's centre of culture and tourism is Bukit tinggi, nestled in the highlands, north of the provincial capital of Padang. This hinterland
has a range of high mountains which dip into picturesque valleys and lakes. Travelindo

Day 01 : MEDAN – BERASTAGI (D)
Arrive at Medan airport, meet and greet then start city tour of Medan visit Maria
Annai Velangkani, a Catholic church with unique Indian characteristc, Maimun Palace
of Old Deli Kingdom and Chinese Temple. Depart for a two-hour drive to Berastagi,
a highland resort with its refreshing weather and magnificent mountain scenery,
through some part of the lush tropical rain forest of Sumatera. Reaching Berastagi,
visit the fruit market of Berastagi. Check in hotel.

Day 02 : BERASTAGI – PARAPAT – SAMOSIR ISLAND (B,L,D)
Depart for Parapat – a famous lake resort lies on the east shore of Lake Toba.
See the slender Sipiso-piso Waterfall drops into the northern tip shore of Lake
Toba from hundred meter height. Visit the ancient King’s Palace of Simalungun
at Pematang Purba. Proceed to Parapat through the fertile vegetable and fruit
farms, pine tree forest and spectacular view of Lake Toba along most part of the
journey. Arrive in Parapat. After lunch, leave for Samosir - a huge island in
the middle of Lake Toba. It takes 45 minutes to get to the island by boat. Arrive
in Samosir, check in hotel.

Day 03 : SAMOSIR ISLAND TOUR (B,L,D)
Samosir Island tour by boat. Visit the Tomb of King Sidabutar and Batak Toba
Village at Tomok. Then to Ambarita, a traditional village with ancient megalithic
furniture in front of the traditional house and the Village of Simanindo to watch
folkdance perfomance of Batak Toba people. Also visit the tiny lovely Tao Island.
Afternoon return to hotel for overnight.

Day 04 : PARAPAT – PADANG SIDEMPUAN / PANYABUNGAN (B,L,D)
Leave for Padang Sidempuan / Panyabungan. Visit Lumban Binanga Village, the small
town Balige with its richly ornamented market building, winding along the road
from Tarutung. Continue journey to Padang Sidempuan / Panyabungan for stopover
night. Check in hotel.

Day 05 : PANYABUNGAN – BUKIT TINGGI (B,L,D)
The journey today is rather long but worthwhile. It exhibits the inner part of
Sumatera. The scenery of mountains, rivers, valleys and traditional villages will
relieve you from your weariness. The Equator Monument should nonetheless be remarkable
in your personal record. Then proceed to the most charming town, the heart of
Minangkabau Highland, and the center of matrilineal society of Sumatera, Bukittinggi.
Arrive in Bukittinggi in the late afternoon. Transferred to hotel.

Day 06 : BUKITITINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
Fullday tour to explore the beauty and the cultural aspects of Minangkabau Highland.
See the landmark of Bukittinggi – Jam Gadang (Clock Tower), the uniqueness of
the local market, museum, Ngarai Sianok – a grand valley, Koto Gadang which is
renown for its silver works and hand embroidery. Return to hotel for rest and
overnight.

Day 07 : BUKIT TINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
Travel to Embun Pagi Viewpoint to view the beautiful scenery of Lake Maninjau.
Then drive to Harau valley, a natural giant rock formation. Afternoon return to
hotel for overnight.

Day 08 : BUKITTINGGI - PADANG ARIPORT/ DEPARTURE (B)
Drive 3 hours through the beautiful countryside of Anai Valley to Padang airport
for your next destination. End of tour.
