"[The area] is now clean [from ash]. Since the eruption, the situation has actually been normal, but the ash prevented us from opening the park," he added as quoted by kompas.com.
Many tourists could be seen arriving at the park on Thursday morning.
The West Java volcano, famous for its connection to the legend of Sangkuriang, has nine craters. The eruption on July 28 triggered panic among tourists and local residents, and sent volcanic ash 200 meters into the sky, according to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
The summit of Tangkuban Parahu is 2,284 m above sea level. (sal/kes)
